Westminster Abbey
The Abbey stands on an old church’s site with Benedictine foundation dating back to the 7th century. Henry VII erected the splendid eastern chapel in the perpendicular style bearing his name. The front and the western tower were rebuilt in 18th century by Wren. Westminster Hall
The hall was designed as a banqueting hall and many civil festivals were organised in the later centuries. However, King John redeveloped it as the Law Courts and trials of eminent personalities like Charles I, Warren Hastings & Sir Thomas Moore were held. Now it forms a gargantuan hallway culminating at the entrance of Houses of Parliament.
Westminster Cathedral
The cathedral is the residency of the Roman Catholic Archbishop. Legend architecture J. F. Bentley designed and built the Cathedral in fifteen years. The eminent structure is built in Byzantine style, made of red brick with a domed belfry standing at a height of 282 feet while the interiors are very decorative and deserves all appreciation.
